This site is an ‘one man effort’….unfortunately not many come forward with their contributions about Badaga. Its really a wonderful work…….belive me, being faraway from home the website gives me a feeling that world is too small.I have no words to express my feeling I go thru when I’m on the site.It has been a every day rotuine to just go thru. recollecting my oldern days with my grandpa & grandma….īut one question….what about the present snaps and collections ? Really nice sein such old memories (photos). Great collection of rare photos, history and description of Badagas. nanga kalachara marule… i am very proud to say this…Įxcellent collections! please keep it growing.!!Įxcellent work…These pictures are memorable…………….

I too would like to do something for my community. It is really interesting (to see these photos). Proud to be a Badaga & Proud to be an Indian. This site is an ‘one man’ effort to do something for the community. The picture collections are excellent…I really appreciate …Good job, I wish you all the best. How many of us can really claim, “I AM PROUD TO BE A BADAGA”?Īnyway, it is the encouraging words from people like you that make me more determined to do something for our community that was initiated by my grand father Rao Bahadur Bellie Gowda and uncle Rao Bahadur Ari Gowda. I have some videos of hettai abba that I’ll post a link to very soon.Īs I have always claimed elsewhere, we Badagas are slowly losing out our identity as a simple, straight forward and strong believers of our great traditions. Yours is a great effort and keep up the great work. I see a lot of disturbing customs like dowry and such starting to develop that are not ours and are starting to kill our system. I was wondering if there was any effort being made to conserve our culture and traditions.

Special thanks, Photo credits to my good friend Mr. Manal Magudi theatre troupe’s Tamil play has been showcased at the Bharat Rang Mahotsav, 17th International Theatre Festival at National School of Drama in New Delhi. Many of these instruments they use at their plays are been used by tribal peoples like Irulas, Toda and Badaga communities. The Instruments such as didgeridoo, air flute, Bohemian flute and African drums are been used. Music and Lightings are yet other major segments at their play. The performers use body language to bring out different dimensions to their plays. In their drama they use farm lands props that reflect the sentiments of the local people and place like the hays, sticks, dolls and masks, sculptures, paintings and rags. The actors at this dramas speaks a poetic form of Tamil language exhibiting about the various social issues using human centric theatre practice body language and movements to express pain, exhaustion and angst. Manal Magudi theatre troupe continuously experiments with the new genre of theatrical content and form in terms of visuals, text, movements, music, properties and space.
